A hands-on workshop to design and blend your own custom scent.

Immerse yourself in the world of scent design with this hands-on workshop, ideal for anyone new to or curious about the art of fragrance. Learn key aspects of scent creation, from choosing and understanding aromatic materials to crafting your unique fragrance formula. You’ll gain a foundational knowledge of scent design and leave with your own custom roll-on perfume or beard oil to prove it.

AGENDA & DETAILS

This workshop lasts three hours and includes:

  1. An introductory presentation: Learn about the applications and opportunities for modern scent design as well as the basic framework for constructing fragrances

  2. Guided material exploration: Smell a curated collection of familiar and unique aromatic materials and explore their aesthetic properties

  3. Hands-on creation: Blend your own custom roll-on fragrance or beard oil based on an artistic concept using all natural materials

No prior scent experience is necessary. All materials are included.

This introductory workshop is intended for anyone intrigued by sensory experiences or fragrance including:

  • Creative professionals interested in expanding their horizons or creating scented products and experiences

  • Makers and hobbyists interested in creating their own custom scents

  • Artists interested in incorporating scent into their art practice


ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Angela Larisch is a multi-disciplinary designer and educator who combines her passion for scent with a background in fine art. An Oregon State University alumna with a BFA in Applied Visual Arts, she has explored scent as an artistic medium since 2017, founding Ceremony Design in 2022. Trained by renowned perfumer Mandy Aftel and further educated at the Institute of Art and Olfaction, Angela has facilitated scent-based workshops and experiences for partners such as adidas, The Ace Hotel, The Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland State University, and more.
